The Fish Harvesters Registration and Certification Board (FHRCBNS) of Nova Scotia is a not-for-profit organization that represents all geographical regions in Nova Scotia. Their online system provides a quick, easy way to register for and keep track of your Personal Fisher Registration (PFR).
A PFR costs $50 and must be purchased through DFO's National Online Licensing System (NOLS) or through the FHRCBNS. By purchasing through the FHRCBNS, your money stays within the province of Nova Scotia and goes towards the following member benefits:
—Training: You can receive discounts and rebates on specific training courses required by Transport Canada (see image below)
—Certification: You can get certified to validate your skills and abilities
—Supporting Local Industry: By choosing the local option, you’ll help keep the industry strong and viable
