In addition to the large fleet of lobster fishing boats ported in Main-à-Dieu, the community has a number of local points of interest that you may want to see while visiting the area.
Coastal Discovery Centre
The Coastal Discovery Centre is open year-round, and offers many different services for everyone to enjoy! From the Big Wave Cafe, Library, Visitor Information Centre, Fishermans Museum, and C@P Site, to our weekly exercise programs, bingo, cards and crafts.
The Coastal Discovery Centre is a fisherman’s museum that is filled with community history and fishing tools from the past. You can visit the virtual fisherman’s museum by clicking here.
Free WiFi access is available.
Main-à-Dieu Board Walk
Almost a kilometre of sandy beach accessible by boardwalk.
Visit the beautiful little village that surrounds the Little Lorraine wharf and a fabulous hike to Gooseberry cove is nearby!
Moke’s Head Trail
Main-à-Dieu is located on the Marconi Trail that takes you from Sydney, through Glace Bay (home to the Miners Museum and Savoy theatre) and on to Louisbourg (Fortress of Louisbourg, many restaurants, hotels and accommodations and of course the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic site). http://www.cbisland.com/the-island/marconi-trail/marconi-trail
